"Hire
a Fishing Guide..... Yes
or No?"
by Captain
Darrell Mittlesteadt
If
the eager anticipation,
and the thought of filling
your live well, is what
you set out with on that
first morning of fishing
is not exactly what you
brought in at the days end,
a fishing guide should be
considered as part of your
plan for the future. Hiring
a guide does not mean you
don’t know how to fish.....on
the contrary. It means,
like any other fisherman,
you are interested in learning
the techniques and the how
to, of the local fisherman.
If
this is going to be your
first fishing trip to the
Vilas and Onieda county
area of northern Wisconsin,
or if you have been visiting
the area since you were
a youngster. If you are
a novice fisherman or a
seasoned veteran experienced
on many different waters,
hiring a guide is a good
idea for a number of reasons.
- He
is an expert on the
area lakes and flowages.
He also knows where
the fish are biting
and what they are biting
on. His expertise and
knowledge of fishing
in the area comes from
first hand, daily experiences
on these area lakes.
Daily experiences that
occur in almost every
type of condition, throughout
the year, that you can
imagine.
- He
is equipped with up
to date equipment, gear
and tackle, he has the
knowledge to use it
and the ability to teach
you.
- Your
vacation time is very
precious. It makes sense
not o waste hours and
hours finding the right
spot to make your day
a success, as well as
the reminder of your
stay.
Treat
yourself to a great northwoods
fishing experience and
maybe even a traditional
Shore Lunch. The experience
will give you many memories
and stories to return
home with and tell...as
you unwrap your fish and
prepare a dinner that
will rekindle the memories
of your stay in northern
Wisconsin and Michigan.
